Using Google as your default quicksearch tool
Over the past couple of years google has become the main search
tool however, if you like me, every time in the past you want
to search for something you have to type in www.google.com in
the address bar and then type in the item that you want to search
for.
If you want to search using MSN all you have to do is type Go
{search words} and press enter.
To set up your Internet Explorer to allow quick searching with
google you first need to download and install Internet Explorer
5 Web Accessories. A free download from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/previous/webaccess/default.asp
Install the program and restart your computer. Now select Quicksearch
from your links favourites folder. They already have a number
of search engines listed however google isn't on there at the
moment.
Click on the new button and for shortcut name enter GG, in the
box marked search select custom URL and enter the following URL
in the URL text box :- http://www.google.com/search?q=%s
Now when you type gg {search words} it will search google for
you instead of MSN, you can also use AV for Alta Vista, Y for
Yahoo, LY for lycos, etc. For example type gg Ardnet Design to
look for Our web site.
