In partnership with Skype, the voice over IP network provider, social media giant facebook are now offering the ability to use video chatting over the social media site.
Recently we’ve seen the launch of Google’s new Google+ service so this latest announcement will send shockwaves out to facebook’s competitors. Mark Zuckerberg, launched the service which can now be used on the facebook.
Google+’s video conferencing facilities will offer the ability to have group videos chats however facebook’s offering will only allow two parties to communicate at this stage.
Skype’s chief executive Tony Bates welcomed the partnership, calling it a “long-term relationship” that could benefit both companies.
Our opinion at Ardnet Online Solutions is that this competition between these social media provides can only benefit the consumer but with facebook’s dominance in Social Media and Google’s dominance in everything else it will be a powerfully battle.
